Two Out Of Three Poem by B.A. Phillips

Two Out Of Three

I saw you in a crowd of green
And you opened up the door
Walking down the steps
Your face was hidden
But I knew it was you all along
You give your heart so freely
And I could not make the leap
Knowing its not me
And knowing that I don't have to
Doesn't make me feel any better
And while I try to ignore these expectations
I fear I was already swept up with your eyes
And if not your eyes
Then the eyes of my own
Sometimes one can only dream
And one can always wonder
