Two States Poem by DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK

Two States

Rating: 5.0

Two states
- - - - - - -
As if poles apart
After decades of debate
A tool to split
A holy land
Into singles rolled out
And permission given
To have heavens
To have morns
To have evenings
To have nights of their own
Evokes mixed response
Of anguish and joy
At the slightest mention
And it makes no difference
Yet now marked
With a new circumference
The seasons are the same
Not oblivious are the Sun
And the Moon to shine on them
The rivers flow
The flowers bloom
The woods go wild
The butterflies flutter
The birds twitter
And the wind blows
That carries pathos of separation
It hurts
And now we have one more state
To our addition
I was a pilgrim to that holy land
Now wish both with happy ends
While politics never cease
To harvest their petty ends………

Bifurcating one single entity into two has its advantages and disadvantages.... aches and thrills! I suppose you are referring to the birth of Telungana.... A great write!
