Uncle Al's Legacy Rewrite Poem by Bill Grace

Uncle Al's Legacy Rewrite

No one in my family ever touched his hand
Yet reading holds many treasures
Given for the price of time
So Albert Schweitzer's life has touched mine.

Gandhi cost me a fortune yet I never met him
Their lives ones of the most striking integrity
Though Schweizer gave a phrase -
That travels with me - 'Reverence for life'
Not a bad phrase for a rural boy
Who has come a long way
From killing woodchucks for sport.
