Uncle Michael Poem by Kendell Cochrane

Uncle Michael

It's been 20 years,
Since I watched you
Sit in gram's garden,
Take the Grand tour,
Beautiful flowers & craftsmanship
Still etched in my mind
Like it was yesterday.

I've got my Margaret,
As you've, yours,
Time has been kind,
Although distanced aches
Make their presence known,
I fall to sleep,
To the ticking of
A rusty metronome,
heard in person with
Ones ear pressed
against my chest.

Today you gave me flowers,
And I shall,
For another 20+ years
Hold them ever so close
To this multifaceted heart.
