Under-Appreciated (Ii) Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

Under-Appreciated (Ii)

I remember the time when we were close
We've connected almost instantly
It didn't take long to let down my guards
allowing you to win over my heart

What happened to the days when
you'd put a smile on my face
Joke for hours on end and
said such loving thoughtful words
how can we get that old thing back?
nowadays, it's difficult to catch your attention
lately, you've been taking me for granted
you better open your eyes and listen

I want to feel like in the beginning
when the love was something new
A time when romance was in the air
sun shinning and the skies were blue

Feeling high on love
Never wanting to come down
sadly, you and I
walk on crumbled grounds

loved them nights we lay in bed
you'd stay awake and we'd talk for hours
until we fell asleep
love it when you'd tell me things like,
you're here with me in spirit
Comforting my soul and
assuring me with compassionate love
Days go by and we haven't spoken.
I be missing you, almost like you hear my calls,
you appear and it's in those moments,
i be wanting you near
I can't just let go of that
we got to find someway to get it back
