People betray,
But a dog will never,
His fidelity and love,
Will always with you stay,
Not only for a week or a day,
But Forever.
All your comments are wonderful, they have soothed my pain. Thank you.
I never had a dog, but I had a parrot when I was a kid. Losing him was an experience that left me almost silent for months... That was very unusual for a kid like me, but it really hurt me... Thanks for sharing Sandra... Thanks for reminding me of my childhood...
This is your first poem in one whole month - which shows the depth of your loss. But it also marks the next stage of things. Losing a beloved companion animal is a profound experience: the hole it creates in our lives will never be fully closed because WE KNOW how wonderfully they enrich our lives. Life will be impoverished without your Sandy. My canary Tristram died about the same time as your Sandy, and the table where his empty cage still resides is a bittersweet reminder of the joy his presence brought me. I won't try to console you. These losses have to heal themselves in their own time. I just offer fellow feeling to you.
I have never known it to be otherwise. Even if separated by years, a dog will remember, respect and love....People; not so much
This is an emphatic reaffirmation of the loyalty of a dog to his master as against the treachery of man against man. Thanks for this lovely poem.
