Unforeseen 2 Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

After four days of my reporting on duty
I was blessed with male child by almighty
“The beautiful rose flower has arrived” brother wrote
I was in so much joy but believed in blessings too

It was exactly after four days of my departure
I was happy family with bright future
But the luck would have not liked
The child breathed his last and died

“The child is no more” brother informed
“We are helpless and sore” he further added
I cried loudly and cursed the luck
As same fate had once again struck

The superiors were gripped with shock too
I was given immediate leave to rush back
The wife was in sad and so the family members
This was the sad for me to remember

I could see mother when she died
Father too had passed away and I was denied
An opportunity to be near by in their last time
I felt so bad and remorseful and thought over many times

The defense service demands highest tradition
Not to be carried away by family relation
I gave approval to same feeling and consoled
Yet the unforeseen events had pushed me against wall

This verse bears a universal sadness when fathers cannot be with their needy ones as death has struck. A vividly powerful write my friend. 23 May by Fay Slimm | Reply

What an incredibly sad poem. I feel there is nothing more soul shattering than the death of a child. You've written this piece with so much feeling.
