Unique Rhythm And Pitch Poem by Robert Smith

Unique Rhythm And Pitch

Rating: 2.7

Marooned on my island, stranded
in a strange universe, alone with
my thoughts – the mental plane
where spirits are waiting for
physical life to come again

Some enlightened spirits embrace
their freedom to investigate all the
planes of existence, some take off
to find another kind of life form,
some seek different planets

Some stay the same, repeating the
same mistakes, living the adventure
called material life without reflection,
without learning, changing or growing,
addicted to pure being “per se”

Some join the congregation they used to
frequent on earth, staying in their version
of heaven, studying the same books, re-
peating the very same codes, until some
individuals question whether heaven

Should not be more than mere sermons,
teaching and meditation - whether their
place ought to be seen as the Biblical
Jerusalem, then leaving to investigate;
others supposing them leaving for hell

Some feel so bad while dying they wake
up with pain and remorse, construct their
own demons and create their own hell,
even meeting the devil himself, until they
realize by changing their attitude only

They flip-flop between heaven and hell,
happiness being a state of the mind – all
experience the result of casting a spell; the
magic words being praise and gratitude,
and the result energy and joy

The goal is love, first for the self, then for each
other, including everything else, until the self
becomes an electromagnetic attraction that
finds itself happily bound to the rest of its
kind; then becoming a note

Resonating with a unique rhythm and pitch,
creating their own melody…
