Unmanifested Promises Poem by Haig Hamilton

Unmanifested Promises

Rating: 5.0

T'was no lie i spoke but things yet to come
t'is no untruth the talks that got your face lighted
your spirit bright the words softly spoken
it brought your smiles
i promise you joy, words to bring laughter in your life
i promise you the wants, things you appreciated
i promised you all, on the condition of you and me
these moments were the joy of your world
your step were flighted your walk was grace
as with egar ears you listen to every sentence
you caress these words, such as if you never heard
so i promised to be there, to hold your hands and to care
to share a life with, to be your friend.
with these words i promise
why now is your hands beneaf your chin
why the look of dispair
your tones have change
and your countenance fallen
why say i lied to you
my promises t'will remain, but you are not the one i met yesterday
where is the love i use to hold, the soul to console
how can you say i lied
the sun rises and falls, and night give way to new day
it no lies, my promises unmanifested were for the one of yesterday
