Unrequited Poem by Erasmo Rayon

Unrequited

'Origin and end
Cause and consequence
Love is the beginning and the end of all thought
The loneliness behind a tear
The ethereal inspiration of fear

For love we seek and find answers to unspoken questions
Love defines our very character, for love is no emotion
Love is the origin of all sentiment, for love we hate
We cry, we kiss, we kill, we eat, we breathe, we wallow
For love a new heart is born while another dies

Love is mutation and evolution
For we change when in love
May it be for better or worse
Eventually we change into something we never expect to transform
We let it embrace us in its warm icy arms
We let it corrupt us, feed us, name us, fill us
Until we are suddenly lost inside an alternate being
Far different and close of what we originally were

Love is a higher level of existence
An unholy power that forges our fates
With subtlety and cruelty, it dictates the paths we eventually walk
And now if you wonder how is it that I know all these things
May the reason behind it be…
That no one understands love better than someone that has lost his own.'
