Until Another Day Poem by Ashutosh Phal

Until Another Day

Until another day he said
As home is behind,
And as the world lies ahead,
When the fields go plain of red, now covered in blood shed,
When the poppies grow high and red,
When the cycle of death slows down, and the slaughter of those who resist grow to very few.
If the war is to end in the fires of freedom, then in the fires of freedom we shall all burn together,
As we watch the high flames burning into the darkness that awaits,
My brothers and I will die as the dreams of peace travel among us,
As you haven't seen the last of us yet,
Until another day he said,
Until the victors of peace strike to the hearts of hope,
And from the hearts of hope, will come the courage of others,
Until another day he said,
For a solider fights not for what is ahead but for what they left behind.
Some say we never forgive,
But we never forget,
Some say we never give up,
But we shall show no mercy,
We will fight ever the less,
Through the years of hardship,
Through the loyalty of friendship,
Our trenches may lay low filed will copper and dirt,
Our lives may lay low of hope,
Our lives may lay in the pain and the agony of others,
But we shall push forward for what is left behind,
Be brave,
Be courageous,
Be kind to those around you,
And when all the goodness left in this world take arms to fight against the fires of death,
All the way to the darkness that awaits in the red fields,
It will be worth fighting for, he said,
Until the flames of death will take us all.
With corpses of men and the last of the lost souls of diggers he said,
They may find my body one wretched day, and if they do the piles of bronze will cover over it,
As a dragon slain in its lair,
Until another day, he said,
To go back to those you love and for those you care,
To go back to the good left in this world,
Some day they will never forget,
For all the souls lost in the poppy fields,
As from then the world is behind and home lies ahead,
As I was once a solider of peace, but as from now, a civilian of death.

As a wise man had once said

Actually, you are wrong. It is a very very thought provoking poem. Makes the reader ponder the life of a soldier and everything they endure. I think you penned a very good write. Keep writing!
