Until The Doing Of It Is Finished Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Until The Doing Of It Is Finished

Racism as it exists today,
Can not be explained away.
Embedded feelings like this kept,
Has to go through a process...
That ends its acceptance.

Like anything allowed to bloom,
From a seed to nourish its growth.
Until the doing of it is finished.
And racism has yet,
Come to full harvest to let it go.

Even though many are upset,
That this process has been slow.
Those with mindsets protecting it,
Have begun to realize lost benefits.
But racism soon will experience a drought.
With an unnecessary need,
To keep feeding on it for purposes to explain.
