Untitled Poem by Lauren Cannone

Untitled

Everything around me is quiet,
I'm standing still as the world turns,
Like a leaf without out wind,
I'm warm as the fire burns,

This is everything I believe in,
And it feels right,
So why must I look for pain?
When it should just be us tonight,

You and I are still a seed,
and we have yet to bloom,
Scared it'll end like the rest,
in impending doom,

You make the view of everything,
Seem a little brighter,
I was not brought up this way,
But hold me a little tighter,

You have my heart captive,
Afraid now to break free,
But I can feel your energy,
When I catch you staring at me,

And when you come around I'm speechless,
Make me think that tomorrow will be better than today,
You are the reason behind my madness,
So I will have to ask you to stay,

I know I am still so young,
I fell for you with one hello,
and I may be immature,
But I'll still say please don't go,

You deserve the world,
So the world I will give,
You can have my soul,
Then how happy we can live,

I stay up all night,
until the dawn of early light,

I wrote you this poem,
As I'm thinking of you,
I can't focus on anything else,
There's nothing left for me to do,

We'll make so many plans,
To find brand new places,
creating new adventures,
with so many new faces,

So dear, let me make you see,
that you're the better half of me.
