Used To Love Him Poem by cathrine ellis

Used To Love Him

Rating: 5.0

I used to be willing to do anything for you
right then and there I became your fool
When we were together you told me what I wanted to hear
Every lie you muttered formed another fresh tear
I stayed with you for years and years
I shut you out only for you to walk right in again
You were my everything, you were my best friend
Hurt I felt when she fathered you child
But that didn’t keep me from loving you and that smile
That smile of yours seeped in my pores
and once again I am only yours
On and off,
Up and down
break up to make up
all the while
Never thinking about anyone but you

Those words that you used against me over again
Uttered in exchange for my innocence
You were selfish because you didn’t want me to leave
But you could cheat, and do whatever
That must have been what you believed
You didn’t want me to move along
Telling me you will change it all
And as naive as I was
Sucked all the hurt up
Only to be let down again

Though all the drama I put up with from you
How dare you not want me to choose
Someone who will love me for me
Every break down, searches that never found
Why you would do me like that
The laughs you must have
Because you used to always get me back
Even though I'd swear I was mad
But I’m over you now
No more time will I allow
To drift into those memories
There was more pain then joy, that’s what makes me rethink
and wonder why I ever used to love you.
You where my first love, but I'm ready again
Get back up... no need for revenge
I'm in love with God first
Then me
Then my man
