Valentine Poem by Donna Ialongo

Valentine

1) i like you in the winter
when your face is washed and is noxema.
2) i like you in the summer
when your face is sandy-gritty
3) i like you in the fall
when your face and knees
are plunged in the incense-powder leaves.
3) i like you in the spring
when you and your face are
put on in new green smiles.

there
1,2,3,4

but for all
i love you once and future
when your face is so much
a star-blend that i only
see you for the half of me you are
