Valentines Day Poem by Edwin Hopper

Valentines Day

Not much point really to Valentines day,
sending anonymous text or card,
You need courage, to actually say,

that you want to meet in a dark café.
That she's the one held in highest regard.
Not much point really to Valentines day,

unless you get her to say she's okay,
to a kiss and more and won't be on guard.
You need courage, to actually say,

she's the one you want, to go all the way,
wherever the path, and however barred.
Not much point really to Valentines day,

unless you make love, and plan to stay,
and be her rock when the going is hard.
You need courage, to actually say,

you love forever, and never betray,
and hold and pleasure, and never discard.
Not much point really to Valentines day.
You need courage, to actually say.
