Velvet Transformation Poem by Alexander Lind

Velvet Transformation

The drops fall - from the chin they pinch
Noises around him - the scream of a pack of hyenas, finding the dying prey
The distorted faces - staring eyes and open mouths

The drops, yet to leave the eye - create a pool
Pools of agony - feels just like home
How odd - seing one self from above

The drops, oh so many - hit the floor
Why hide your inside - when you are inside out
The hyenas are on their hunt - a dying prey stands not a chance

The drops keep forming - even though the wind whips them to the side
The hyenas chase - the pleasure of the hunt, euphoric
Wooden dors won't hold - ferocious cries fill the air

The drops hit the edge - glimmering in the damp light
Thought running through the mind, torn - space so small, surrounding
They will never have his life - even if he will have to have it instead

The drops hit the carpet - white turns to crimson
Edge so sharp - no resistance
Oh cold steel - embrace the velvet so warm

The drops build a pool - the ones in the eyes have barely dried
The hyenas finally get inside - witnessing the beauty of steel and velvet
The cries go silent - for tonight a transformation has occurred

The steel and velvet has turned the hyenas into lambs
