Verse Meche Poem by Christopher G. Turner

Verse Meche

I watched as a daughter
cried at her mothers side.
I wondered how it felt.
Were you there as well?

As I paid my own respects
I couldn't resist thinking
of all of the memories.
Will there ever be more?

Each Thanksgiving Day
I would always smile
and think of turkey.
Can I have some more?

I will never forget
time spent with family.
Each and every year
Will it ever be the same?

Each Christmas holiday
I would always smile
and think of eggnog.
Can I have some more?

I will never forget
all of the presents.
Each and every year
Why did you have to go?

I always enjoyed playing
with toys at your house.
I was but a child then.
How can I ever forget?

Time continued on
after you returned to
our Father in heaven.
When will we meet again?

We all died a bit inside.
Yet we keep your memory
alive always and forever.
Will you say you are ok?

I will always remember.
You always wore a smile.
You were always happy.
Were you ever sad?

I will always remember you
as my great grandmother.
The bringer of peace and joy.
May you never be forgotten.
