Very Present Help Poem by 'Gboyega Towobola

Very Present Help

When I stumbled,
Over rough edges,
And was close to fall,
Into the snare of the fowler,
Your word guided my steps,
And You directed my ways,
You were that very present help.

When I drifted,
Down the sides of the mountain,
And was close to getting stuck,
In the miry clay,
Your hand pulled me out,
And You set my feet and solid rock,
You were that very present help.

When I strayed,
From the path of light,
And was close to be far away,
Into the thick of darkness,
Your love drew me close,
And You restored me in true life,
You were that very present help.

When I waned,
Along the track of the race,
And was close to fainting,
In the dust from the good fight of faith,
Your grace strengthened me to finish,
And You made me soar like an eagle,
You were that very present help

When I called,
To the hearing of Glory,
And was close to relent,
In the quest for your verdict,
Your voice responded to my inquiry,
And You relieved my heart with peace.
You were that very present help.

When I cried
On my feeble knees,
And was close to heavy tears,
In the pains of trouble,
Your care gave me hope,
And You brought me comfort,
You were that very present help.

When I quaked,
Under the fierce attacks of mortals,
And was close to death,
In the heat of the battle,
Your intervention came to my rescue,
And You handed me victory,
You were that very present help.

…keep on the good works
