Views On The World Today Poem by Marilyn Shepperson

Views On The World Today

I would, if I could, understand
Mankind's dealings with this world
Flora and fauna already extinct
Or fast approaching the same
What sort of legacy are we leaving
Our children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren
Those who will remember us, if only vaguely
If we're lucky enough to live so long
This world, that was here before us,
Will not last forever
So, who are we to hasten it's end
And what of mankind itself
With our greed and differences of opinion
Our total disregard for anothers life and feelings
I'm not saying that we should call each other
My sister or my brother
But would not 'Friend' be nice
