Graa og gram var Tiden med sin bitre Viden.
Luften — raa og ram — blev lys af Ynde siden.

O hvor kært at ane, at alt sort og graat
er et Læ, hvor Lyset virker gemt og godt!
at det mørkes Dybde og det hvides Mildhed
dugges af en Skabermorgens Drøm og Stilhed.

Der er Sol i Nildynd, Sol i Urtids-Slam,
Underkraft, som skyr den farvesprængte Ham,
Væld af Renheds Vælde, som med Taalmods Gløden
dæmrer over Natten og besejrer Døden.

Graat er ikke graat, og sort er ikke sort,
Livets Farveunder gør det stille stort.
Ja, naar disse Paaskeblomster foldes ud,
føler vi et Gys, et Pust fra Jordens Hud
af en sød og kuldskær og sørgmodig Vaar,
som har lidt for os, er død for os og ej forgaar.
