Virtue And Sin

Knowledge is the path that leads to virtue.
Ignorance is the path that leads to sin.

Hope and expectation enhance patience.
Greed is responsible for so many miseries.

Arrogance begets hatred.
Modesty attracts others.

Forgiveness helps to end conflict.
Revenge sows the seed of further retaliation.

Truthfulness makes things crystal clear.
Dishonesty is the way to deprive others.

Jealousy destroys peace of mind.
Kindness brings forth peace.

Sympathy teaches to sacrifice.
Selfishness destroys friendship.

Love is the key to unity
Hate causes war and strife.

So keep the world inside your mind
As if it’s your only child.

All true, but only to the extent that we all walk seperate paths towards a common goal. What is correct for one on a spiritual path may not suit another.

Mr. Andalib; I don't think I'm really qualified to comment, but you sent a message so I think it only fair to reply... I like what you're trying to do, here (at least what I think you're trying to do) . I like that it's short. I like the juxtapositioning of themes. But... there's something I'm not finding in it, something that holds it together... It makes me wonder why-why these things, why did you chose them as opposites and complements and why did you chose the verbs you did to tell me about them... I hope to read other of your poems, though, because there is definitely something majestic and sweet, here. Stephanie

Asif, this is beautiful. Succinct brilliant summation of contrasts, what works/what helps and what doesn't to make life worthwhile and humans better people. Yes, a definite reminder of how we must share what is loving, kind and humane with one and all. Animals, too, I hope. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share your awareness and concern. Have you read poems by Sulaiman Mohd Yosuf, Ahmad Shiddiqi, Seema Chowdhury, Yoonoos Peerbocus and Godspower Oshodin? Lots more to read of course, but those writers are very tuned into life, love, sharing and caring. My best to you and yours, Carol
