Vitalized Poem by Michael Timothy Rose

Vitalized

“Vitalized”

This spring of healing elixir.

It springs
against my unseen inhibitions,
the thick mist
and my suffocating steel armor
that seemed irremovable, irrevocable, molded to my bones and to my body’s type,
so tightly clasped to my insides and vital organs.
Yet again, though,

I know
the touch and feel,
I know -it's beckoning jests,
a touch
that is sweet and that is prevailing
like the
inebriation
of a woman’s neck
that is doused
in perfume.

I know it like
the
insatiable
names of the fragrances,

like I know the crisp paper
and melody
'cross the sharp, tempting cusp
of the unread novel
and its subsequent pages,

like I would imagine the warm, saccharine taste
of nectar
to a thirsty bee.
