Vying For The Optimum Poem by Claude Simpson

Vying For The Optimum

It's like, we oppose the good
And succumb to the worst;
It's like, we cry out for peace
But invite war.

If more peace will make
Us wise
Then we should all
Be cooperative.

If more kindness will make
Us happy
Then we should all
Be compassionate.

If more love will make
Us filled
Then we should all
Be caring.

If more thanksgiving will make
Us saved
Then we should all
Be God-fearing.

I charge us to be peaceful,
Kind and loving;
Engage in thanksgiving
So as to make the world a better place.
