Waiting Poem by Francis Santaquilani

Waiting

Rating: 5.0

Vengeful rain
From every direction,
A thunderclap's smack
Ricochets off the canyon's
Steel and stone walls,
Crashing head first to
Concrete floor, mangled
Umbrellas take flight
LIke startled crows
Trash takes cover under
Parked cars, lightning
Plays with office lights,
Stone swells like a sponge,
From under billowing awnings
And dark canyon nooks,
Angry eyes flash through
Splash after splash at slick
Yellow cabs sliding past
Frantic, hailing hands,
Watching time hydroplane by.
