Waking Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Waking

Waking in the middle of the night
Wondering if everything is alright
Searching blindly…for the light
With a calming breath …losing sight

Soundly returning to peaceful sleep
Burning thoughts drift into the deep
Troublesome worries I do not keep
Soot is swept away in a clean sweep

Waking to the dawn … giving a sigh
Giving thanks…hope did not die
Sunlight breaks though the subdued sky
Purposeful plans are in ample supply
