Walk A Mile Poem by Jon M. Nelson

Walk A Mile

For centuries They have been in the fight,
Serving our country and doing what's right.
They have worked so hard to pay their dues,
I'm honored to walk a mile in their shoes.

They will answer the call when we need,
Filling their ranks is such a rare breed.
They won't give up or know how to lose,
I'm honored to walk a mile in their shoes.

They'll accomplish the mission despite fears,
And they fight through the pain and tears.
They may feel like quitting but they refuse,
I'm honored to walk a mile in their shoes.

They helped keep this nation of ours strong,
And they fight injustice because it is wrong.
Yet you won't see this on the evening news,
I'm honored to walk a mile in their shoes.

There are so many that just cannot see,
What it takes to keep our country free.
This path, so few were proud to choose,
I'm honored to walk a mile in their shoes.
