Walk Away From Me Poem by Melissa Barber

Walk Away From Me

Rating: 4.0

I see you there
You’re coming my way
What could I say?
Should I even say anything at all?
I hope that I won’t trip and fall
When I look at you
I’m reminded of the pain you put me through

You’re coming even closer
My heart is beating fast
As I try not to focus on our past

You lead me on too long
For years it seems
My whole life I’ve been longing for you
Longing to get close to you and to be with you
When I finally had you, I never wanted to let you go
But I did
I was just too scared

So as I stare into your eyes
I can see what lies inside
For you I know it could never be us again
Because of you, I have to start my life all over again

Closer you’re coming even more
I get shivers down my spine
Blood rushes through my veins
My steps are a little bit off
I’m trying so hard not to look like a fool
Trying to keep in my drool
I’m fond of you
You know it’s true

We are meeting eye to eye now
You begin to speak kind of low
And all you can say is hello?
That wasn’t what I expected to hear
After all these years
