Walking By Poem by Rafael Cazares

Walking By

Walking through days of life
Knowing yet not knowing where it leads
Just walking by and
Observing
Throughout this
The heart stirs
It sings
Songs of Longing
Yet it sings
Songs of Gratitude
And when the belief in Ownership
Comes along
Life starts to
Slither past the desperateness of Grasping Fingers
So the maxim goes
This “I” does not belong to the “self”
But not only are there observers
There are builders
Whose fingers have built the wonders of Mesoamerica
The Pyramids of Giza
The Hanging Gardens of Babylon
The Library of Alexandria
Skyscrapers Science Music Astronomy Mathematics and Philosophy
These Magnificent designs of Creativity
That through the centuries
Walk by
Scathed by Climate Time Gravity and People
Never knowing where they will end up
Never knowing where they will go
Just like the rest
Walking by
