Walking Through The Heat Poem by Gloria Williams

Walking Through The Heat

The cool breeze blowing
Calming the raging heat
The trees’ shadows stretching to touch me
I gladly let them, inviting the shade
Another appreciated breeze pushing the heat away
Shaking the trees
Loose green leaves falling slowly like paper gently landing on the ground
The heat rising back up
The trees thinning
Such a long way to walk
I will for the summer heat to decline
This only making it angrier
I wish for a breeze
The wind sends one last burst of fresh air
Sighing in defeat
