Wanting To Comprehend Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Wanting To Comprehend

If many are not listening,
With a wanting to comprehend.
But often talk over others,
To give their point of view.
And unsolicited opinions too.
What advice could they give,
To believe it constructive...
And positive.
If everyone sits pretending to hear
What is being said.
With an attention pretending to give
To hear while heads begin to nod.
And some are doing this,
With eyes glazed over...
Attempting not to dose.
Fall to sleep.
Or hit the floor.
To then apologize,
For dropping to their knees.
To find keys.
