Warming Glow Poem by David Harris

Warming Glow

Snowflakes fall outside my window
as the chilling wind creates snow devils
across the white landscape.
Inside we sit around the glow
of an open log fire
that crackles merrily
along to the dancing flames.

The room has a rosy glow
as we are touched
by the fire's warming fingers,
protecting us from the winter's chills
that would eat away at our souls.
As we sit together remembering
the warmth of summers passed.

Looking forward to spring and summer
when winter has passed along it way.
Spring with its new birth of colours
and summer with its sunset glows.
Of lovers walking down leafy lanes
on humid nights
under the stars and moon.

Until then we'll sit together
waiting for winter to go
and the weather to warm,
when new life begins again
and the sun surrounded by blue skies
will honour us again
with its warming glow.
