Warmth Poem by athena bell

Warmth

I walk fast to get to

Nowhere
No destination. Hurry. Hurry.

Mixed faces skim by me.
Acknowledge many, greet slim.

Like pigeons on a rooftop, they huddle together.
Huddle together for warmth

They need the warmth
To protect
from the loneliness that creeps into your soul
from the shame of having no one
from the need of one to talk to
To hide

It is cold.
I feel the warmth at times
but it is from a bulb,
No real sunshine.
I need my sun.
I need my sun.
I want to feel the warmth of something
Real

Come, carrier of the light
I wish for you, I pray for you.

But to no prevail.
