Was It Ever Enough? Poem by Lorelei Page

Was It Ever Enough?

Was it ever enough? ! ?
Or just something to run from? ! ?
How couldn't you love it, she made you number one...
So you take your bullets, you get your gun...
Start counting the winters till you come back from this one.
Bitter hearts revolt
My sour stomach turns
It breaks me in half
It cuts me in two
then brings me to my knees.
Was it ever enough? ! ?
Or was it all just too much? ! ?
Why would you leave it, she made you number one...
So now when you're needed, you hide from the sun...
So start counting the winters till you come back from this one...
If you come back.
So there you go
off on a campaign to the ends of this earth.
What was it for? ? ?
Tell me, what was it for? ! ? ...
ungratefulness
emptiness
ugliness
callous selfishness
carelessness
thoughtlessness and malice! ! !
Your princess cries! ! ! Didn't she make you feel like number one? ! ?
Ignorance
bitterness
intolerance
foulest foolishness
childish
sufferage
worship?
Your lover cries...
I dream of candy and cakes and all kinds of sweets... I dream of her wrists wrapped in colorful beads. I dream of my crown, I dream of my thrown, I dream of not being so far from home.
Insolence
viciousness
envious
lovelessness
missing it
missing this
why did I go? ! ?
It's cowardice
Till I get home!
