Was That The Idea? Poem by Ted Sheridan

Was That The Idea?

Rating: 4.7

Since when did everyone in this friggin’ televised world of ours
Decide they could endear themselves to the rest of us ordinary people
By picking up a large coffee mug
Complete with some fancy logo imprinted on the face of it
Gently cupping it with both hands and then taking a passionate sip of coffee
Is this technique some focus group discovered would
Make us all feel more like family and more at home with one another
While they lie to us about the state of the economy
Or tell us what we will need to know before venturing outside on our own…
I noticed this for the first time on the morning shows
And then one of the morning show host moved to the evening news
Where she got a new mug with a new logo embellished on the blasted thing
None the less, there she was sipping her way into my living room
And me with a bloody beer in my hand…I felt out classed

I think I was thinking of this. Or something like this but either way. You said it and now I don’t have to. Love the last line

Goodness gracious, I wish I could show you some of the sayings on my mugs....As always, it's not what's on the OUTSIDE but INSIDE that counts, not just in matters of coffee at that. So say I cheers to you and your beverage of choice....Alas, I must admit that I need a more than once daily coffee fix... great and entertaining write...mm.xo

Ted! You obviously haven't seen my mug. It's huge and it reads 'I hate deceptive politicians, I hate logos, I hate everything other than genuinely natural and honest things and that includes people (though I will confess to quite liking some food and drink and needing some medication that are not entirely natural) , now come here, give us a hug and everything will be OK'. See. I told you it was a large mug. On the other hand, I'm not on television (often) . :) Oh... and the piece. Well of courses I love it! t x

Don't dispair Ted. A good beer stein beats a coffee cup every time. I have yet to find a bottle of some fancy iced coffee to beat a good bottle of beer. Zen PS. Even without the beer... she is just sipping coffee ~ you sip life.
