Watching The Full Moon Poem by Kevin Howell

Watching The Full Moon

Full moon spirals over my head
the sky is falling, turning blood red
the moon rears its face so high
I worship its constant life

The stars give me sustenance
to never die, an eternal existence
I have no hatred for those who made me
the moon my cosmic sea

Compelled by forces beyond my control
I can't stop the monster I abhore
just when the urges stop, I wonder
is this the end of my plunder

Sometimes in my dreams I fear
an intruder I cannot sleeping hear
the others, joined with me from afar
watching the stake driven in my heart

The sun sets, I rise again
of this there will be no end
The moon in crimson red rises across the sea
I worship its short life mournfully
