Waves Poem by Katie Willis

Waves

Rating: 4.0

Warmth melts into my skin,
The feeling lush.
I listen to the crash of the waves,
Shattering the silence.
I open my eyes.
Blinding light bleeds into the darkness,
Stealing it,
Leaving me with shimmering turquoise water.
Gentle lapping at my feet,
Convinces me to dig my toes into the moist ground.
I can feel the harsh,
Exfoliating grains of sand surrounding them,
Like a blanket.
The smell of sunscreen is enticing.
Meshing with the taste of salt in the air.
As I lie back and shut my eyes,
I feel serenity,
I feel bliss.
Nothing else matters,
In this moment.
