Waves Make Me Poem by John Doe

Waves Make Me

The waves crash on to the beach with intent
Seeming to be able to destroy everything in its path
But as they thin out over the beach
They disappear into nothingness

Whilst the tide pulls it back into the sea
Where the strong current pulls relentlessly on its base
The power of a wave comes and goes
It’s fury short but timeless

I like to watch the waves for hours the beauty of confused fury
I remember the every wave that has washed over me
Tumbled my thought into nothingness
Waiting for the one wave that will make a diffence

As each wave dumps is power from its crest
Rumbles on with white foam bubbling away
The expectation of beauty is profound
The thought of seeing perfect wave confuses me

Waves come in sets predetermined by fate
By science and law of gravity
By rules we all know but fail to understand
So complex in its simple ness

Beaches can be molded in time
But if there is a cliff it takes a long time
Which am I
Which would I like to be

I’ve been a beach all this time
Allowing waves to run their course
Allowing molding and freedom to their energy
I was flat and formless

So know I want to be a cliff
Hard and unmoving
Unmovable but for time
Beauty in its roughest form

So I stand in path of the waves to come
With new resolve and certainty I have never had
For one day I will be a beach again
So that when that wave comes I can absorb it in all its fury
