We Are Different Poem by Jennifer Runner

We Are Different

We are different,

You and I,

You are strong & willing,

Me I'm weak & I cry,

Out of love once forbidden,

We now become friends,

And the mystery of not knowing,

Crumbles and it ends,

From a scared little girl,

Always waiting for her knight,

To a grown woman,

Who still fears the night,

You have offered to teach,

Me how to love the night,

And I am trying to trust,

And to fight my own fright,

The thought of not knowing,

How good things can be,

Has got my fears crumbling,

And is setting my spirit free.
