We Are Living Our Lives Separately Poem by Felix Emeka George

We Are Living Our Lives Separately

We are living our lives separately
The rain that fall on sugar cane
With all it sweetness
Is the same that fell on the bitter leaves
The Elephant in all its majesty
Feeds on the same grass as the Mice
Both the crown head of king
And lowest of the lowly emissary
Drinks from the same source.
The bush that bore the ugly rat
Also harbour the beautiful Mice
They share the same breeze
Wet by the same rainfall
it is two reason
Of life living our lives
