We Are Our Most Valuable Assets Poem by Hebert Logerie

We Are Our Most Valuable Assets

I can swear that I just woke up
Woke up from a fascinating dream
I've come to realize that our bodies
Are our biggest assets. Enjoy the ice cream
While we can. The only properties
That we really possess are us. Hope
Is what everybody wishes for
We don't really own where we live
We are renters. When it is time for us to leave
We'll have the same thing that we had before
Which is nothing. We'll leave everything behind
The mansion, the luxury cars, the jewelries
The money in the banks, and the new properties
We are so poor that we'll lose our mind
If we think too deep about human behavior
We're not smart. We failed to enjoy life
To the fullest. At times, we must forget about the wife
We must do what we must, like good soldiers
Enjoy every day while we can, we own nothing
Not the casket, castle, mansion
Not the Versace, not the Pierre Cardin
Shoes, clothes, and pants
Not the Lotus, the Aston Martin
Not the towers, trees and plants
We're owned by Mother Nature
She's our past, present and future
We are the most valuable assets
I must have had a nightmare
At one point, liabilities, debts
Will be worthless at the Fair.
