We Are Proud! Poem by Rusty Ed Gibson

We Are Proud!

We came in boats and worked ourselves free
nothing was ever given to my family or me
We learned the language so that we could speak
like everyone else in the land of the free
We wanted to be here this is where we call home
where we planted roots and started a farm
We learned the customs and changed our last name
We became Americans in every way

My family fought in most every war
To let freedom ring from shore to shore
Just as our fathers gave their lives for this land
we will bleed our last dropp to make our last stand
try to take my freedom, my bible, or gun
you'll have to take my life and you still wont have won
Threaten our lives and we won't back down
crash a plane on our buildings we'll come to your town
We're not afraid of your battle cry
For those kinds of acts we have a reply

We walk the walk We'll fight your fight
We'll work real hard to make it right
Were not afraid We don't back down
We are Americans and We are Proud!

America the beautiful and the land of the free
Is one of the greatest gifts ever given to me
Here there's no bread line and we're not all the same
There no czars in these parts, have you lost your way
But the land of the free doesn't mean there's no price
Real Americans paid for it with their very lives

Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: 'In God is our trust.'
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
These immortal words and what they describe
Are the very reasons most of us are alive

We built this country just the way we like
If you're here to wreck it you'll get a fight
Our Military allows us to stand proud and tall
If you don't like America -
"We'll just pray for you - the next time that you call"!

We walk the walk We fight the fight
We work real hard to make it right
Were not afraid We don't back down
We are Americans and We are Proud!
