We Have Abortions... June 1st,2013

Both abortions and assisted suicide involve a lot of death,
We have abortions now but no death-with-dignity yet,
Ottawa appointees told Sue Rodriguez that she could die,

this is my first introduction to james. i was attracted to the title. i too am an advocate (though not a loud advocate) of both abortion and assisted suicide. i also see in poet's bio a reference to euthanasia. i don't claim to claim that either side of these issues is the MORALLY CORRECT SIDE. abortion, to me, is a particularly vexing issue as at least TWO lives are so strongly involved in each abortion (mother AND whatever-you-want-to-call-it aka fetus, clump of cells, baby, etc.) . what human being can claim to be the authority to make such a decision for another human being? it's too bad that, if there is a God, God doesn't come to us with her/his official God ID and proclaim to all once and for all what is the 'right' thing(s) to be allowed. as for the line: And their rules are criminal law so we have to abide, ...........well, you don't HAVE TO abide, if by abide one means follow the law, but if one breaks the law i guess one should be willing to pay the price (fine, prison, etc) or have a plan to avoid paying the price.
as for the poem, as a poem, i feel that the rhythm and rhyme and overall structure qualifies it to be called a poem and a good one. thanks for sharing. (Report) Reply

A little while a little love
The hour yet bears for thee and me

If still our heaven be lit above.
Thou merely, at the day's last sigh,
