We Help Poem by Doris Clore Demaree

We Help

Jesus helped everyone he could.
'This,' he said, 'is how to do good.'
He told the tale of a man who was hurt,
Whose clothes were torn, who was pushed in the dirt.
Important men then passed him by,
Their noses pointing to the sky.
But a stranger saw the man's hurt head
And stopped to help, then put him to bed.
'A neighbor,' said Jesus, 'is one indeed
Who helps another who is in need.'

I, too, will help any way I can
A bird, a puppy, or even a man.
