We Keep Losing Our Way Poem by Francis Duggan

We Keep Losing Our Way

Rating: 5.0

For the mistakes of our political leaders who send troops to fight in wars far away
The price in mistrust we do all have to pay
This is what happens when it becomes us against they
The mistakes of the past some repeat every day
The deaths of civilians in wars is to all of our shame
And for hating us them I can't say I do blame
Our elected leaders great shame on us do bring
Yet many far too many their praises do sing
Why do we buy into the human hating game
We see them as evil they see us as the same
That our government leaders order the bombing of their cities add insult to offence
Those we elected to lead us lack in common sense
On the roadway to peace we keep losing our way
And that we cannot love those different to us does seem sad to say.
