We Learn How to Live Alone Poem by Dr.jawaz Jaffri

We Learn How to Live Alone

God has given us two eyes,
But the mutual odium
Has deprived us of seeing,
He has given us two ears,
But we prefer futility to hearing,

He gave us three means to breathe
And a lot of fresh air,
But we ourselves have poisoned
The air of our own share,

He has bestowed us one stomach
And a lot of food so that we should
Eat less and feel the hunger
Of others more, but our own hunger

Is bent upon not to decrease.
It is His prudence
That he has given us one tongue
Against two ears, so that we should
Speak less than listening;
But we made our tongue
A tool to wound others.

The tongues have divided into shards,
Divisions have given air to the war,
And wars have made piles of skulls.

It seems as if we do not have the need
Of love and friendship,
We are learning how to live alone
In the multitude of human beings,

We have snatched from God,
His skills of creation,

And have attained authority over death,
Ah! We have become
Competent to destroy ourselves.

Interesting write. Truth spells in all lines. Very true said we are our own destroyer. Life lived should have been beautiful but we made it complicated. Loved reading it. Thanks for sharing.
