We Of The Never-Never Poem by Ben Kariuki

We Of The Never-Never

We push, sometimes too hard,
Hold on, even when hope's the last card,
Always persist, when situations remain bad,
When bare hands, we chew our own cud,
And never hoist, by our own petard,
We of the Never Never!

We get up, even when the sun's not so bright,
Match on, though no tunnel leave alone light,
Sometimes burdened, so pressed under the weight,
We understand, and set the limits of our flight,
If determined, we can reach just any height,
We of the Never Never!

The world around us, tries nothing but oppress,
But forward's our trend, effort to make progress,
And not letting, anyone our plans suppress,
Strongly believing, in the Lords eternal grace,
For without God, we do nothing but retrogress,
We of the Never Never!
