We'Re Proud Poem by Misty Talbot

We'Re Proud

All we want
Is everyone's right
To live in our homes
Without the need to fight

We are different
That doesn't mean we're bad
We're sick of warring
with bureauxcracy gone mad

So come on council
give us our due
All we want's to be happy
just the same as you

Don't try to pigeonhole us
with your stereotypes
we certainly don't need
the hassle or hype

We choose to live in trailers
We love our way of life
We're surrounded by our family
Husbands, children and wives

We're steeped in family values
We've ethics, moral code
We've respect for all generations
We care for our young and old

Our children are chaperoned
when they go on their first dates
it's important that their virtue is respected
whilst looking for their lifelong mate.

Our women clean and polish
to make our trailers sparkle and sheen.
One woman does the work
of an entire cleaning team

Our men they like to potter
with engines, as boys do
we are proud to be gypsies
we are proud of our lives
Are you?
