Wedding Band Blues … [ Wedding Rings; Story From A Thrice-Divorced ‘poet'; Short; ‘serious']

Weddings are often followed by parties at which bands play.
But, here, "Band" is a wedding ring, which is one of the ways …
you can tell people are married; it's an outward sign.
And if a partner removes their band, perhaps NOT all is fine …
at home.

I wear mine 24/7/365 and in a "leap year" three six six, ….
except in the shower, ‘cause then some soap often sticks ….
to my ring.
I feel the soap lasts longer when I take off my band,
but as soon as my use of the soap is done, band goes back on my hand.

I've had four wives, and each one ……gave me a gold band.
I gave the fist to my child. I don't know where the next two did land.
I still wear the fourth; while alive I hope ……….I'll still USE ….
it as a symbol of my partnership. If not, it'd be case #4 of............the "Wedding Band Blues".

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
the facts are there. i was perhaps thinking about the ring when i noticed it on my finger one day, and decided to write about it. it's 'just' a symbol, but a significant one to me.

Yes, continue to wear the band and never think of removing it...... your reminder of a life time bond! Never ever see it as a bind!
