Welcome Sweet Sixteen (2016) Poem by Ratnakar Mandlik

Welcome Sweet Sixteen (2016)

Rating: 5.0

Adieu 2015 and Welcome sweet sixteen
Memorable may become on planet your sojourn.
15 for a human, a ripe age for rebellion,
16 for floating or chasing dreams or infatuations.

Through what ever we passed in year 2015,
Exultation of victories or deep depressions
Caused by Paris, Male and tragedies elsewhere
Entitled is human for the blame and not the year.

Achievements, gains, pains, joys or strife,
Man made commodities not linked with any belief.
Weaknesses imbibed by Creator in the human mind
Act on their own to destroy our joy n to it grind.

Thanks, passage of 15, age of adolescence's rebellion
Welcome sweet sixteen in humanity's pavilion.

Thus the year 2015 has passed, heralding in 2016. Last year has been one of triumphant victories and devastating rivalries, violence and blood shed. Also of natural calamities. But the year had nothing to do with them. They were mostly man made. Let us hope that the New year will be one of better prospects! A timely write. Wish you a happy New Year!

Some may have a sweet 16 while the rest struggles with the ugly duckling syndrome or internal angst against the world..
